Palinka in Budapest

Palinka in Budapest

Being the typical tourist in Budapest, and discovering different streets and parts of the city, I was intrigued by a sign that read ‘Palinka Museum/Bar’, that led us to an underground place that turned out to be an utter delight!

Although still at the very ‘soft opening’ stages, we were greeted by a lovely bartender who went on to explain to us what Palinka was. To those of you who don’t know (as I didn’t prior to that night), Palinka is the Hungarian national alcoholic beverage; a lovely liquor made from various fruits. This place was part tasting bar, part museum, taking you on a journey of the making and history of Palinka. They also have a small shop where one can buy different makes, flavors, and brands of this national drink.

Fun, different, tasty, and a cool concept if you ask me. I’m sure it will make for an interesting hangout for tourists and locals alike.
