December in Miami
The art related parties all over the city were a blast, and being right at beach at night, for most of those functions was unbeatable and awe inspiring. The flow of creativity witnessed throughout the day would just magically flow onto these nighttime gatherings, and I simply found myself engulfed in music, dance, chit chat, great food, warm weather and amazing scenery. It had been a long time that I hadn’t been able to actually see the sea at night, but somehow the moon shone strongly over Miami, and I could actually enjoy gazing at the sea after sunset!
Places you should not miss in Miami Beach:
Drinks at hotel Feana
SLS South Beach for dinner or drinks by the pool
Dinner then dancing at Baoli on a Wednesday night. Very happening!
But basically, the thing to do is to stroll to the beach after a long day and night, and just walk along the water for miles on end. Shoes in one hand and handbag in the other!
One of my favorite areas that you have to drive out to is Wynwood, and specifically Wynwood Walls. It reminded me a lot of Williamsburg and Brooklyn, and if you are generally into the underground art vibe, and the street art and graffiti scene, you will love it and you’ll enjoy the cool hang out places. But if you are looking for fancy-schmancy outings, this is not the place. Stick to my Miami Beach recommendations for something more upscale.
Although I spent most of the week in Miami Beach, Downtown Miami is worth a visit for sure (but you will go there anyway to visit Art Miami And Context as those two fairs are not in South Beach), and a drive to Coconut Grove is a must.
